Baby Quilt with Initial

I have not posted in awhile so I need to catch up on some posts!  I've still been sewing and creating but my kids have kept me busy which is why I haven't been posting as often as I would like.

Here are a few pictures of the quilt that I made for my one and a half year old niece for Christmas 2015.  I was inspired by other quilts I've seen on Pinterest and I wanted it to have some white blocks scattered throughout the quilt to make the patterned blocks really stand out.  I put my niece's initial in the middle of the quilt and I'm really proud about how it turned out.

T-shirt Quilt

I was so excited to make this t-shirt quilt for my grandfather.  I love how each t-shirt has sentimental meaning.  It had been awhile since I made a t-shirt quilt when I started on this one.  This was the first t-shirt quilt that I put strips of fabric between the t-shirts to make the quilt larger.  The blue strips of fabric brought more color to the quilt since there were a lot of white shirts.  I was very pleased with the finished product.

Penguin Crackers and Cake Pops

My son wanted a Penguin themed birthday party for his 4th birthday so I immediately went to Pinterest for inspiration.  I found this adorable idea for Penguin crackers made with cream cheese, black olives, and carrots.  They were actually really tasty.  My only advise if anyone decides to try it is to make these the day of the party.  I made them the day before and kept them in the fridge overnight which caused the crackers to be soft and almost soggy.  But they were still adorable!

The cake pops that I made were dipped in a white coating with blue sprinkles.  It's hard to see the details in the picture below because I forgot to take a picture of the cake pops by themselves.  I had a thank you note attached for the guests.  Since I made the cake pops and Penguin crackers, I decided to get a store bought cake and put his 4 little penguin toys on top.

We also had a Make A Penguin craft station set up for kids to make their own penguin.  I had actually bought these last Christmas and they came with Santa hats but we had so many left over that I was able to use them for the party.  They were super cute.

The birthday boy was very pleased with his Penguin party! We also gave out the penguin beach balls as party gifts.

Train Birthday Cake

My youngest son had a train birthday cake for his 1st birthday.  It was a pretty easy cake to make.  It was just 2 layers of round cake with chocolate icing.  I used kit kat bars to make the train track and used a small plastic train as the topper.

I also made cake pops and forgot to get a close up picture.  They were made dark blue with red swirls.

Pink and White Cake Pops

These pink cake pops were for a baby shower. They have white dots on half and white stripes on the rest.

Diaper Cake

I've always wanted to make a diaper cake and so I was excited to have the opportunity to make one. Of course I found a beautiful one on Etsy that I used as inspiration. The bottom layer is one pack of size 2 diapers and the middle and top layers are size 1 diapers. I found the cute ribbon and stickers at Michaels. Instead of rolling each diaper, I checked Pinterest for tips on how to angle them. I used an empty wrapping paper roll for the middle to keep the layers together.  I also found a two bowls and a lid that were each size to help me get started for each layer. It was tricky at first because the diapers would slide but the more I added, the better it stayed. Then I tied up each layer and added the ribbon.

Christmas Treats

This post is a few weeks late but I still wanted to include these baked goodies. I enjoy making cake pops for my family!

And we left one for Santa!

Here are some Oreo balls that I made for a Christmas party. These are easier and faster to make because there isn't any baking involved...just crush up the Oreos, mix with cream cheese, roll into balls, dip, and decorate.

Race Bib and Metal Holder

I've kept running bibs and metals from past races that I've run and my husband has run but they were just shoved in a drawer. After I ran a 5k on New Year's Day, I wanted to keep the bib to remember my races in a better way than just in a drawer. I found inspiration on Pinterest and Etsy which motivated me to make a holder for the bibs and metals. I probably only spent about $5 or so at the craft store to get the wood plaque and hooks. I already had the paint and letters. I'm so happy to have this hanging on my wall and it's motivating me to run more races!
