Super Hero Capes with Initials

I found a great pattern for making superhero capes on Pinterest.  I decided to make one for my sons in their favorite colors of orange and red and also one for my niece in her favorite color purple.  I bought some cheap face masks at the craft store to go along with the capes.  The kids loved their capes.  It was tricky to even get pictures of them wearing the capes because they kept running around the house playing super heroes.

BB8 Orange themed party

My son's favorite character is BB8 and favorite color is orange so that was what he wanted for his 6th birthday! BB8 and orange themed party supplies was his request.  It was actually really easy to find orange party supplies and because Star Wars movies are very popular, BB8 items were also also over the stores.  I used a BB8 orange mug to display his orange and white cake pops.

Pumpkin Burlap Wreath

I love fall!  I am trying to decorate more for each holiday season and so I thought I would start with making a fall wreath.  I absolutely love burlap and I found this idea on Pinterest.  It turned out better than I had expected.  It's such a great way to decorate the front of our house!

N Monogrammed Chevron Pillow

My husband and I painted our son's bedroom last weekend.  Nathan's favorite colors are blue and orange and so we decided to paint his bedroom blue.  Of course he also wanted to have some orange in his room.  I sewed a pillow for him with an orange chevron pattern on one side and the other side with his initial in orange.  He was excited for his new pillow and I was excited to not have to paint the walls orange.

Firetruck Birthday Cake

I was so excited to make this firetruck cake for my youngest son's 3rd birthday! There were a few times that I felt in over my head, so I just kept adding more icing.  Of course I found the inspiration on Pinterest.  There was actually a YouTube video with step by step instructions for the cake.  The cake was made from 3 loaf pans and then cut into the shape of the firetruck.

This cake experience has taught me what a crumb coat is and how to do it.  Basically it's just my first attempt at icing the cake and then putting it in the fridge to set the icing.

After the second coat of icing, I pipped the windows and ladder.  I thought the gum drops were so adorable as the lights and Oreos for the wheels.

Jack was so excited for his firetruck cake! The expression on his face says it all.

And I remembered to actually take pictures of the cake pops this time.  The first picture below is the cake pops just before dipping.  Of course, the cake pops were red to match the fire truck.

Pinterest inspired me to make pretzels dipped to look like matches. I also added some sprinkles.

Easter Wreath

I have been trying new craft projects lately and I learned how to make this Easter wreath from my favorite YouTuber.  The materials were all bought from the Dollar Store.  I plan to make more wreaths with the help of Pinterest inspiration.
