Cars birthday cake & Cake pops

For my son's 3rd birthday, he wanted a birthday cake with his favorite cartoon character, Lightning McQueen from Cars.  I was excited for this challenge and I learned how to pipe icing with different tips.  This was also the first time that I made homemade buttercream icing.

The cake pops were dipped in dark and light blue candy melts.  I wrapped the cake pops in plastic candy bags, added a thank you tag, and tied it with ribbon.  I like sending people home with cake pops as party favors.

Baby mobile

I finally finished the mobile for my son's crib.  He has a train theme in his room.  I saw this idea on Etsy and so I thought I would give it a try.  The trains and caboose are made of felt. I sewed in the prices and hung them from an old mobile frame. I also made some matching wall hangings. For the crib skirt, I measured and hemmed the fabric and then used duct tape to secure it to the crib so I can use the fabric again later.

Measuring Sticks

I found this idea on Pinterest and I loved how they are mobile so if we move we can take them with us.  They were very easy to make. I'm looking forward to watching my boys grow over the years!

Baby Shower Cake Pops

I made 2 batches of cake pops which came to about 70 cake pops for my sister's baby shower. The light green and light yellow turned out pretty cute. I made them with chocolate filling.

Burp Cloths

I love making baby gifts and burp cloths are always an important baby item in my opinion.  It's nice to be able to make these because they are a quick project.

Soft Blocks

I found a blog with step by step directions on how to make these cute soft blocks. They were fun to make and didn't take too long. The sides are 4" by 4" with three different patterns. These make a great baby gift!

Book Shelves

Of course I saw this awesome idea on Pinterest and wanted to put these in our 2 year old's bedroom. My husband made these and did an awesome job! Our son loves books and now he can see them displayed easier. I still need to make him a soft bean bag type chair and make it a sitting area. We followed directions from a blog that I found on Pinterest and used a 1x8, 1x4, and 1x2 for the shelves and made sure to screw them into the studs. I love how they turned out!
