Chevron Curtains

I was using some old purple curtains that were actually the first curtains I had ever made 7 years ago for my 11 month old son's room so I decided to make him some new ones.  It's amazing how a dark room can help him nap better.  Anyway, there are two small windows in his room and so I decided to just make 2 panels (one for each).  I also made the curtains end at the window sill for two reasons.  First, I didn't want him pulling on the curtains and second, the fabric was going to get more expensive the more I used.

I got some tips from Pintrest and used the idea of sewing a $5 flat sheet for the curtain lining.  The lining was definitely necessary to keep the sunlight out for nap time and it made the curtains look more professional.  I also love the curtain ring clips which made it easy to hang.  And since I'm super cheap, I bought two dowel rods from Home Depot for $1.50 and painted them white for the curtain rods.  I still need to saw off the remain 5 inches and add the ends. The rods are hung on the wall with Command Hooks which are super convenient since we are renting.

Notice in the top pictures, the white curtain rod is extra long.  In the picture below, I sawed off 8 inches and added the circle ends.  It was so much cheaper to buy these dowel rods and circle ends than to buy new rods.  I'm proud of how they turned out.

Updated Picture Frames

I found this frame at Target on clearance for $1.67 and so I had to get it.  I added two different colors of scrapbook paper and a strip of left over fabric from the curtains I just made.  After adding a green bow, I clipped in the picture and it was done.  I love how it matches my son's room.
Since I had a white frame laying around the house, I decided to add a green ribbon and put it in my son's room.  He seemed pretty excited about it.

You can see part of the new curtains that I made for his room.  I'll post more pictures.  I love the chevron pattern and was excited to use it.

Birthday Invitations

My son is turning a year old next month and I thought it would be fun to make the birthday invitations.  Since my husband loved dinosaurs as a child, we decided to go with a dinosaur theme.

Pink & Yellow Cake Pops

It's been awhile since I've posted! This summer has been very busy and we've been traveling a lot.  But I am happy to now have more time to bake and craft.  For my coworker's birthday, I made her some chocolate cake pops with white chocolate shell and yellow and pink sprinkles.  I've definitely learned more tricks to making them easier and faster now that I've made them a few times.  I even got a cheap cardboard stand to hold them while they set.  I'll be making more for my son's first birthday in October.
