I absolutely love Shutterfly.  I made a collage mug for my Dad for his birthday.  There are four pictures including each of his children at a young age and his new grandson.  Photos always make great gifts.

Checkbook Cover

I saw this cute tutorial on Pinterest from Crazy Mom Quilts. It's a checkbook cover with a quilted pattern. It didn't take very long to make and I want to make more in different colors.  I love small sewing projects because then I can complete a project in an hour or two.

Painted Mugs

There is a great paint your own pottery store in Richmond called All Fired Up.  I've made a few mugs, a plate, and my son had his hand prints and foot prints made in clay. My husband loves Calvin and Hobbes so I made him a Calvin and Hobbes mug for his birthday last year.  I found the picture online and then traced it onto the mug.  It took awhile to paint because of the details but I was pretty proud of the end project.

For my husband's birthday this year, I decided to have our 3 month old son help out with the gift.  My husband is a huge Carolina fan so using our son's footprint was perfect.  I wrote Little Tar Heel Fan on the side.

Birthday Decorations

I was inspired by The TomKat Studio to be more creative with party decorations. For my husband's birthday, I made him a banner with balloons, personalized gift bags, and a homemade card. All I did was print out the happy birthday logo in size 250 font and cut the letters out in circles.  I used four colors of card stock and cut out rectangles.  There is white ribbon connecting the letters. 

 

Make up Wrap

Since it's the new year, I decided to sew a new project.  I actually have a goal to make and post at least 3 or more projects a month.  My new favorite crafting website is The DIY Dish which has great ideas for sewing projects with instructional videos.  I'm making my list of projects to tackle next.  This cosmetic wrap was fun to make and pretty easy to do.  I like how it rolls up and then ties with a ribbon.
